The “Oh My God I’m Getting Married” Diaries- Thoughts from an engaged DJ
Chapter 3- Picking the Venue
So Janelle and I wanted to get married somewhere I haven’t done lots of weddings before….let me remind you I live in Perth and have been at this for 7 years…(0_o) crap! We would have loved to had it at Burswood On Swan. I might have done a great many weddings there and it is right on the Swan river, the food is amazing and the staff are great (Click HERE to check them out). There is just one problem, the Function manager Linzi and her husband Matt (The chief) are our friends so if we did have it there they could not join us in the celebrations as they would be running around after us! I wouldn’t inflict that on anyone so we had to keep looking! Sure Caversham House is amazing, but a little too elaborate for our taste as we wanted a little more low key (plus availability is non existent... it is very popular)The Parmelia Hilton, The Pan Pacific, and Ascot Quays again all put on amazing shows, but they are like blank canvases and we would have to put in a lot of decor (remember our budget!) On and on it went, and we were getting no where....UNTIL......one of my clients said they were having their ceremony at the Perth Bell Tower.... "People get married there?" I thought to myself "How very...unique!"Then it dawned on me, central location, beautiful view of the river, intimate setting, icon of Perth, could this be what Janelle and I were searching for? So I did the ceremony of my couple (if you want to check out their photos click HERE) and really liked it. After talking to Janelle and showing some photos, we decided to give it a go! We plan to have the ceremony at 5pm on the Observation Deck and then afterwards, have the cocktail function in the lobby. Now we just need to sort out some tunes (I may know a guy) and food...but that is for next the next chapter ;-)
So what about YOU?! Where did you have (or planning to have) your Ceremony and Reception? How did you find it and what made you choose it? Leave a comment below and share your story :-)
